The 2012-2013 Scholarship Recipients have been selected.  The committee of Karen Adair-Murphy, Georgia Hensley, Barbara Goergen, and Karen Withers are thrilled to announce our winners.  Elizabeth Birkman, our own Lisa Birkman’s daughter, attends Round Rock Christian Academy and will attend Texas Tech University in the fall.  Kristin Young who attends Rouse High School in Leander will attend Baylor University in the fall.  And last but not least, Alissa Osgood who attends Stony Point High School in Round Rock will attend The University of Texas in the fall.  We are very excited to award these young ladies with our scholarship and to honor them and their parents at our June luncheon.  Thank you to each of you who every year support our investment in the future by way of our scholarship program.

WCRW and GARW Sponsored Senate Forum 2012

Saturday, January 14th, 2012

“A good and informative time was had by all.”  If you weren’t present at the first Senate Forum of 2012 – YOU missed out!  A crowd of over 150 conservative women and concerned citizens gathered to hear four of the leading U. S. Senate Candidates respond to issues that affect the entire country as well as Texans individually.  Republican clubs, Williamson County Republican Women and Georgetown Area Republican Women, sponsored the event and can proudly claim it an elephantine success!

Candidates, Tom Leppert, Ted Cruz, Glenn Addison and Lela Pittenger all participated.  Each of the Senate hopefuls fielded questions regarding the economy, border security and foreign affairs.  Levity was provided by Addison when he challenged the crowd to think what it would be like if everyone left the building wearing only the “American-made” clothing they had on – thought-provoking, right?

From television to newspaper to internet, the forum was widely covered by the media.  Maria Brown, event coordinator, was interviewed by local KXAN-TV and Tillie Pope, WCRW Chaplain and Parliamentarian was interviewed by KAKW-UnivisionThomson Reuters sent a reporter to cover the forum and the Austin American Statesman, Williamson County Sun, and Houston Chronicle all contributed print articles.  And last but certainly not least, the event was filmed and prominently represented by The Texas Tribune (moderator, Ross Ramsey) and Texas Insider (moderator, Jim Cardle).

To sum it up, it was an amazing forum and Williamson County was well-represented by the members of WCRW & GARW.  The challenge now will be to top this event –

Ready, Set, Let’s Go…

WILLIAMSON COUNTY REPUBLICAN WOMEN PRESENT

THE DO NOT COME MASQUERADE BALL FUNDRAISER”

The One and Only Fundraising Event for 2011

You are cordially invited to NOT attend our Masquerade Ball Fundraiser.   By NOT attending, you will NOT have to bear the costs for:

  • Paying a babysitter………..$
  • Buying a dress.…….…..$
  • Buying a silent auction item (That you wind up giving to Aunt Martha)
  • Eating another hotel dinner (Just how many ways can you prepare a chicken??)

With this RADICAL NEW CONCEPT on the CUTTING EDGE of societal evolution, you are relieved of the onerous burden of actually attending an event….PRICELESS!!

The proceeds from this Non-Event will help us continue our support of Republican candidates. Every one of our local candidates that we worked for and supported in 2010 won their race! To ensure victory in 2012, Williamson County Republican Women will again play a vital role in electing more Republicans candidates and keeping our current Republicans in office. We ask for your continued support.  Republican Women are effective!!!!

Republican Women care about their community!  The funds raised will, also, be used for scholarships and for the purchase of dictionaries and U.S. Constitutions for school children.  Our 2010 community projects have included support of the Children’s Advocacy Center and the Agape Pregnancy Center.  This year we will be supporting two women veterans’ transformation from military to civilian life.

While we have relieved you of the burden of actually attending an event, we would still like to honor you, our sponsors! You are invited to a hosted cocktail party at Arbor Pointe on Thursday September 22nd from 5:30 to 7:30.  We encourage you to bring your mask to the cocktail party.  Sponsors will also be acknowledged at the monthly luncheons, the club newsletter, on the WCRW web site and the cocktail party.

Your support enables us to continue our work.  Thank you!
